WetLeather Motorcycle Rider Information

My first bike. Yup. I first fixed on the Seca 750 next to it, but somehow I wound up buying the leftover Maxim. It cost $2600 out of the box. I was in love. I had just finished the motorcycle safety course given at a local dealership and with completion card in hand I went shopping. Bought the Yamaha. Passed the Mass road test. Got my endorsement.

Deb and I had taken the course together and so technically this was a shared bike. She would ride it to work some days and I would take it on others. But as time went by she was disinclined to ride. It was too big for her.

We took this bike to Americade in Lake George that year. We visited my brother-in-law during his freshman year at SUNY Binghampton in '85. Took several camping trips to various parks in NH and MA. Most of the 10,000 miles we put on it that year were commuting and local rides.

After acquiring the K100 in late '85 I eventually sold the Maxim to a co-worker for $1500. He might still be riding it. I see these parked around from time to time and I've come up next to a few at stop lights still ticking and with happy owners. This photo is actually from eBay where I saw one just like my old one for sale. I have photos of my Maxim but they're buried in a box someplace.
