I had my surgical follow-up at the doctor's office yesterday.
Executive Summary: I'm doing fine.
Long version: Turns out that the 15 pounds I lost according to their scale is good for the first month. Dr. Jan (my surgeon was Dr. Patterson) wanted to put 2cc of saline into my band to start closing down the opening. To do this they locate the "port" on my abdominal wall, numb the area with novacaine, and insert a syringe into the port (which is sewed to my abdominal wall muscles under the skin) and inject the saline. The doctor said the band can hold about 10 cc when full.
I really don't feel too much different. I do feel full faster now and I'm eating less. My guess is that my weight loss will pick up again now that I'm able to eat even less than before.
Tonight I am going to resume my water aerobics class. The doctor confirmed that my incisions have healed enough to allow both swimming and hot tub use. Yay. This is hot tub season and I've been cold.
